## About

Alchemy's hosted MCP server gives AI agents access to its blockchain APIs across more than 100 networks, including EVM and Solana RPC, token balances and prices, NFT data, asset transfers, transaction simulation and tracing, and smart wallets. It is remote and authenticates with OAuth using your Alchemy account; the older local npm server is being retired.

## Install

1. **Connect it in ChatGPT** Turn on Developer mode in ChatGPT (Settings → Security and login), open Plugins, select + and paste https://mcp.alchemy.com/mcp as the MCP server URL, then sign in with OAuth. Add it to a chat from the composer's tools menu.

2. **Or add it to Codex or the API**

   Codex CLI:

   ```bash
   codex mcp add alchemy --url https://mcp.alchemy.com/mcp
   codex mcp login alchemy
   ```

   config.toml:

   ```toml
   [mcp_servers.alchemy]
   url = "https://mcp.alchemy.com/mcp"
   ```

   Responses API:

   ```python
   import os
   from openai import OpenAI
   client = OpenAI()
   response = client.responses.create(
       model="gpt-6-astra",
       tools=[{
           "type": "mcp",
           "server_label": "alchemy",
           "server_url": "https://mcp.alchemy.com/mcp",
           "authorization": os.environ["ALCHEMY_API_KEY"],
           "require_approval": "never",
       }],
       input="What tokens does vitalik.eth hold on Ethereum and Base?",
   )
   print(response.output_text)
   ```
