## About

Contentful's official MCP server wraps the Content Management API so agents can search, create, update and publish entries, assets, content types, locales, environments, releases and AI Actions. It runs locally over stdio via npx and authenticates with a Content Management API token scoped to a space and environment.

## Install

1. **Add the server to Codex**

   Codex CLI:

   ```bash
   codex mcp add contentful --env CONTENTFUL_MANAGEMENT_ACCESS_TOKEN=YOUR_CONTENTFUL_MANAGEMENT_ACCESS_TOKEN --env SPACE_ID=YOUR_SPACE_ID --env ENVIRONMENT_ID=YOUR_ENVIRONMENT_ID -- npx -y @contentful/mcp-server
   ```

   config.toml:

   ```toml
   [mcp_servers.contentful]
   command = "npx"
   args = ["-y", "@contentful/mcp-server"]
   [mcp_servers.contentful.env]
   CONTENTFUL_MANAGEMENT_ACCESS_TOKEN = "YOUR_CONTENTFUL_MANAGEMENT_ACCESS_TOKEN"
   SPACE_ID = "YOUR_SPACE_ID"
   ENVIRONMENT_ID = "YOUR_ENVIRONMENT_ID"
   ```

   Agents SDK:

   ```python
   from agents import Agent, Runner
   from agents.mcp import MCPServerStdio
   async with MCPServerStdio(
       name="Contentful",
       params={"command": "npx", "args": ["-y", "@contentful/mcp-server"]},
   ) as server:
       agent = Agent(name="Assistant", mcp_servers=[server])
       result = await Runner.run(agent, "List the content types in my space and their fields")
       print(result.final_output)
   ```
