## About

DigitalOcean's MCP server lets agents manage App Platform apps, Droplets, managed databases, Kubernetes, networking, Spaces and other services. DigitalOcean hosts a separate remote endpoint per service (for example apps, databases, droplets) that supports OAuth or a bearer API token, and the same tools can run locally via npx with DIGITALOCEAN_API_TOKEN.

## Install

1. **Connect it in ChatGPT** Turn on Developer mode in ChatGPT (Settings → Security and login), open Plugins, select + and paste https://apps.mcp.digitalocean.com/mcp as the MCP server URL, then sign in with OAuth. Add it to a chat from the composer's tools menu.

2. **Or add it to Codex or the API**

   Codex CLI:

   ```bash
   codex mcp add digitalocean --url https://apps.mcp.digitalocean.com/mcp
   codex mcp login digitalocean
   ```

   config.toml:

   ```toml
   [mcp_servers.digitalocean]
   url = "https://apps.mcp.digitalocean.com/mcp"
   ```

   Responses API:

   ```python
   import os
   from openai import OpenAI
   client = OpenAI()
   response = client.responses.create(
       model="gpt-6-astra",
       tools=[{
           "type": "mcp",
           "server_label": "digitalocean",
           "server_url": "https://apps.mcp.digitalocean.com/mcp",
           "authorization": os.environ["DIGITALOCEAN_API_TOKEN"],
           "require_approval": "never",
       }],
       input="Deploy this GitHub repo to App Platform",
   )
   print(response.output_text)
   ```

## Example prompts
