## About

Exa's hosted MCP server provides web search, URL content fetching, advanced filtered search and an Exa agent for multi-step research. It works keyless with rate limits, or with OAuth or an API key for higher limits and agent features.

## Install

1. **Connect it in ChatGPT** Turn on Developer mode in ChatGPT (Settings → Security and login), open Plugins, select + and paste https://mcp.exa.ai/mcp as the MCP server URL. Add it to a chat from the composer's tools menu.

2. **Or add it to Codex or the API**

   Codex CLI:

   ```

   config.toml:

   ```
