## About

Google's managed Drive MCP server lets AI agents search files, read content, view metadata and permissions, and create or copy files. It is offered in the Google Workspace Developer Preview Program alongside Docs, Sheets, Slides, Calendar, Chat, and People MCP servers, and uses OAuth 2.0 via a Google Cloud project.

## Install

1. **Connect it in ChatGPT** Turn on Developer mode in ChatGPT (Settings → Security and login), open Plugins, select + and paste https://drivemcp.googleapis.com/mcp/v1 as the MCP server URL, then sign in with OAuth. Add it to a chat from the composer's tools menu.

2. **Or add it to Codex or the API**

   Codex CLI:

   ```bash
   codex mcp add google-drive --url https://drivemcp.googleapis.com/mcp/v1
   codex mcp login google-drive
   ```

   config.toml:

   ```toml
   [mcp_servers.google-drive]
   url = "https://drivemcp.googleapis.com/mcp/v1"
   ```

   Responses API:

   ```python
   import os
   from openai import OpenAI
   client = OpenAI()
   response = client.responses.create(
       model="gpt-6-astra",
       tools=[{
           "type": "mcp",
           "server_label": "google_drive",
           "server_url": "https://drivemcp.googleapis.com/mcp/v1",
           "authorization": os.environ["GOOGLE_DRIVE_API_KEY"],
           "require_approval": "never",
       }],
       input="Find the most recent version of the board deck in my Drive",
