## About

Heroku's official MCP server lets LLMs manage Heroku apps, dynos, add-ons, logs, pipelines, teams and Heroku Postgres. The recommended launch is `heroku mcp:start`, which reuses Heroku CLI authentication; an npx package using HEROKU_API_KEY is also available.

## Install

1. **Add the server to Codex**

   Codex CLI:

   ```bash
   codex mcp add heroku --env HEROKU_API_KEY=YOUR_HEROKU_API_KEY -- heroku mcp:start
   ```

   config.toml:

   ```toml
   [mcp_servers.heroku]
   command = "heroku"
   args = ["mcp:start"]
   [mcp_servers.heroku.env]
   HEROKU_API_KEY = "YOUR_HEROKU_API_KEY"
   ```

   Agents SDK:

   ```python
   from agents import Agent, Runner
   from agents.mcp import MCPServerStdio
   async with MCPServerStdio(
       name="Heroku",
       params={"command": "heroku", "args": ["mcp:start"]},
   ) as server:
       agent = Agent(name="Assistant", mcp_servers=[server])
       result = await Runner.run(agent, "List my Heroku apps")
       print(result.final_output)
   ```
