## About

LaunchDarkly's hosted MCP server lets AI assistants create, update and inspect feature flags, work with AI configs and query observability data. It is remote and authenticates with OAuth, replacing the older access-token setup. EU and Federal instances are not supported by the hosted server and use LaunchDarkly's self-managed local server instead.

## Install

1. **Connect it in ChatGPT** Turn on Developer mode in ChatGPT (Settings → Security and login), open Plugins, select + and paste https://mcp.launchdarkly.com/mcp/launchdarkly as the MCP server URL, then sign in with OAuth. Add it to a chat from the composer's tools menu.

2. **Or add it to Codex or the API**

   Codex CLI:

   ```bash
   codex mcp add launchdarkly --url https://mcp.launchdarkly.com/mcp/launchdarkly
   codex mcp login launchdarkly
   ```

   config.toml:

   ```toml
   [mcp_servers.launchdarkly]
   url = "https://mcp.launchdarkly.com/mcp/launchdarkly"
   ```

   Responses API:

   ```python
   import os
   from openai import OpenAI
   client = OpenAI()
   response = client.responses.create(
       model="gpt-6-astra",
       tools=[{
           "type": "mcp",
           "server_label": "launchdarkly",
           "server_url": "https://mcp.launchdarkly.com/mcp/launchdarkly",
           "authorization": os.environ["LAUNCHDARKLY_API_KEY"],
           "require_approval": "never",
       }],
       input="Create a flag called enable-dark-mode in the web project",
   )
   print(response.output_text)
   ```

- "Which flags are fully rolled out and safe to clean up?"
- "Turn on new-pricing for the staging environment only"
