## About

Notion's official hosted MCP server lets AI clients search a workspace, fetch pages, create and update pages and databases, and work with comments, views, and meeting notes. It authenticates with OAuth and is the actively supported option; the older self-hosted @notionhq/notion-mcp-server package is no longer actively maintained.

## Install

1. **Connect it in ChatGPT** Turn on Developer mode in ChatGPT (Settings → Security and login), open Plugins, select + and paste https://mcp.notion.com/mcp as the MCP server URL, then sign in with OAuth. Add it to a chat from the composer's tools menu.

2. **Or add it to Codex or the API**

   Codex CLI:

   ```bash
   codex mcp add notion --url https://mcp.notion.com/mcp
   codex mcp login notion
   ```

   config.toml:

   ```toml
   [mcp_servers.notion]
   url = "https://mcp.notion.com/mcp"
   ```

   Responses API:

   ```python
   import os
   from openai import OpenAI
   client = OpenAI()
   response = client.responses.create(
       model="gpt-6-astra",
       tools=[{
           "type": "mcp",
           "server_label": "notion",
           "server_url": "https://mcp.notion.com/mcp",
           "authorization": os.environ["NOTION_API_KEY"],
           "require_approval": "never",
       }],
       input="Find my notes from last week's planning meeting in Notion",
   )
   print(response.output_text)
   ```
