## About

Prisma's remote MCP server lets AI tools create and manage Prisma Postgres databases, connection strings, backups and recoveries, run SQL and introspect schemas. It also covers Object Storage, Prisma Compute deployments and documentation search. Users sign in with their Prisma account and pick a workspace.

## Install

1. **Connect it in ChatGPT** Turn on Developer mode in ChatGPT (Settings → Security and login), open Plugins, select + and paste https://mcp.prisma.io/mcp as the MCP server URL, then sign in with OAuth. Add it to a chat from the composer's tools menu.

2. **Or add it to Codex or the API**

   Codex CLI:

   ```bash
   codex mcp add prisma --url https://mcp.prisma.io/mcp
   codex mcp login prisma
   ```

   config.toml:

   ```toml
   [mcp_servers.prisma]
   url = "https://mcp.prisma.io/mcp"
   ```

   Responses API:

   ```python
   import os
   from openai import OpenAI
   client = OpenAI()
   response = client.responses.create(
       model="gpt-6-astra",
       tools=[{
           "type": "mcp",
           "server_label": "prisma",
           "server_url": "https://mcp.prisma.io/mcp",
           "authorization": os.environ["PRISMA_API_KEY"],
           "require_approval": "never",
       }],
       input="Create a new Prisma Postgres database in my workspace",
   )
   print(response.output_text)
   ```
