## About

Render's official MCP server lets LLMs create and manage web services, static sites, cron jobs, Postgres and Key Value instances on Render. It can trigger deploys, read logs and metrics and run read queries against databases. The hosted server supports OAuth or a Render API key; a local binary/Docker option is also available.

## Install

1. **Connect it in ChatGPT** Turn on Developer mode in ChatGPT (Settings → Security and login), open Plugins, select + and paste https://mcp.render.com as the MCP server URL, then sign in with OAuth. Add it to a chat from the composer's tools menu.

2. **Or add it to Codex or the API**

   Codex CLI:

   ```bash
   codex mcp add render --url https://mcp.render.com
   codex mcp login render
   ```

   config.toml:

   ```toml
   [mcp_servers.render]
   url = "https://mcp.render.com"
   ```

   Responses API:

   ```python
   import os
   from openai import OpenAI
   client = OpenAI()
   response = client.responses.create(
       model="gpt-6-astra",
       tools=[{
           "type": "mcp",
           "server_label": "render",
           "server_url": "https://mcp.render.com",
           "authorization": os.environ["RENDER_API_KEY"],
           "require_approval": "never",
       }],
       input="List my Render services and their status",
   )
   print(response.output_text)
   ```
