## About

WordPress.com runs a built-in remote MCP server that lets AI assistants read and write content across every site on your account, including posts, pages and comments. It authenticates with OAuth 2.1 in the browser, and you choose full or read-only access when approving. MCP must be enabled in your account preferences and requires a paid plan (or a free site's first 30 days); Jetpack-connected self-hosted sites with Jetpack AI or Complete also work.

## Install

1. **Connect it in ChatGPT** Turn on Developer mode in ChatGPT (Settings → Security and login), open Plugins, select + and paste https://public-api.wordpress.com/wpcom/v2/mcp/v1 as the MCP server URL, then sign in with OAuth. Add it to a chat from the composer's tools menu.

2. **Or add it to Codex or the API**

   Codex CLI:

   ```bash
   codex mcp add wordpress-com --url https://public-api.wordpress.com/wpcom/v2/mcp/v1
   codex mcp login wordpress-com
   ```

   config.toml:

   ```toml
   [mcp_servers.wordpress-com]
   url = "https://public-api.wordpress.com/wpcom/v2/mcp/v1"
   ```

   Responses API:

   ```python
   import os
   from openai import OpenAI
   client = OpenAI()
   response = client.responses.create(
       model="gpt-6-astra",
       tools=[{
           "type": "mcp",
           "server_label": "wordpress_com",
           "server_url": "https://public-api.wordpress.com/wpcom/v2/mcp/v1",
           "authorization": os.environ["WORDPRESS_COM_API_KEY"],
           "require_approval": "never",
       }],
       input="Draft a blog post about our new pricing and save it as a draft",
   )
   print(response.output_text)
   ```
